This acrylic illustration is for my final project in Bezalel academy of art and design, Jrusalem. The theme is a poem by Kadya Molodowsky, and this part of it is somwhere in the middle of the poem-story. The girl drifts in to her imagination, escaping the reality of the grey and tough life in a suburb not far from Warsaw, in the beginning of the last century. I hope it comes threw the illustration, I work on this project a lot, so It’s hard for me to see things clear. Painting with acrylic was something I didn’t like when I only started with it aroun 10 years ago, I prefered oil painting, but now I am friends with it. Besides acrylic I used colored pencils in this illustration, in the buble of the imagination. I hope the project will come out the best way it can.

Here are the previous illustrations for my final project:  https://artbydina.wordpress.com/2010/05/31/a-girl-hanging-laundry/ and:  https://artbydina.wordpress.com/2010/05/19/already-six-years-old-with-firy-curls/ and: https://artbydina.wordpress.com/2010/05/28/the-first-double-spread-of-my-final-project/

Acrylic on paper, a detail from a double spread. This painting is for my final project, an illustration for a poem by Kadya Molodowsky. I already uploaded 2 posts with other double spreads from the same project: “already six years old, with firy curls”: https://artbydina.wordpress.com/2010/05/19/already-six-years-old-with-firy-curls/. And: https://artbydina.wordpress.com/2010/05/28/the-first-double-spread-of-my-final-project/. This one is one of the transitions I tried to illustrate, where the girl goes from reality to imagination. This specific character of the girl won’t be in the final project, but the scene with the big gown will get in some other way. The girl supposed to look a bit more poor… I am working on it.

Oil on canvas – Sunset rose

Oil on canvas, 50/70 cm (I think…) This work was made few years ago and sold to a nice woman. I like working with oil paint, it’s a very smooth and flowing medium. There is also something nice in painting flowers. Maybe it is not such a surprising image, but it is pleasant to the eye. The combination between the two, oil on canvas, and flowers (especially a rose), makes the painting work pure pleasure. I miss working with oil paint, so I guess I’ll come back to it after I finish my final project.

Pencil on paper, colored with the computer (CGI). This was one of the illustration options for my final project, for a poem by Kadya Molodowsky, called “open the gate”. I chose another poem and another style/technique, but still, this is one of my favorite images from the project. The inspiration is from some image I found on the internet, called: “girl at the garden gate”.

Oil pastels on paper.  An illustration for the book: “Everything Is Illuminated” by Jonathan Safran Foer. Yankel is being condemned by the society, and the punishment is to wear a bead to remind him of that. This illustration is part of a series I made for this book, here is the book cover: https://artbydina.wordpress.com/2010/05/30/book-cover-illustration-for-%e2%80%9ceverything-is-illuminated%e2%80%9d/. I really liked reading it, and it inspired my imagination, especially about the appearance and behaviour of the jewish villagers in this forgotten shtetl which name is a story by itself (Trochenbrod or Zofiówka).
